Formally president from April 1967 until his death on 5 February 2005, the longest-serving president in Togo's history.

Acting president from 25 February to 4 May 2005, after Faure Gnassingbé stood down under regional pressure.

Faure Gnassingbé

Served: 2005–2025

Son of Eyadéma who was installed by the army in February 2005, then won the May 2005 election; in 2025 he became President of the Council of Ministers under constitutional changes.

Jean-Lucien Savi de Tové

Served: 2025–present

Former opposition figure elected by the National Assembly on 3 May 2025 to the now largely ceremonial presidency, at nearly 86 the oldest in Togo's history.
